MENDING

NATURE TO MYSELF

The concept is inspired by the healing effect during repairing textile, revalue nature lives. When it is told that fabric was given second life through mending, I believe the natural world is our mending method.

The meditation in nature includse the colors of our beautiful Earth. In the beginning, everyone is a plain fabric, we paint our own colors on it. I used natural dyeing such as indigo, turmeric, silver dollar to achieve the earthy tone. we form different shapes and patterns like flowers, ocean waves and the annual ring of trees.

When we face disappointments and failures, we lose our passion, love, spirit, relationships, and ethics easily. We produce pollutions, wastes that threaten environment, hurt each other with unthoughtful practise. Our life is being ‘subtracted’ and ‘felted’, hiding our ‘bad’ sides, refuse to communicate. As a result, people are drifted apart, body and heart are full of pain and scars.

However, it is never too late to recover. After collecting the disposed fabrics, masks, leftover coffees, I renew the garments by Stitching, darning, sewing using bright colour threads. The ‘broken fabrics’ and Waste are therefore regenerated.

The word ‘wabi Sami’, teach me to face the fears and pains and see imperfections ‘perfectly’, cherish every live and moment.“Nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect.” , like every creature does. While we embrace our imperfections, our life would be revalued as the fabrics.
